Albert Lange Fliflet’s translation of the Kalevala into New Norwegian (nynorsk) from 1967 was done so well that he was awarded with the Bastian Prize by the Norwegian Association of Literary Translators. Konrad Nielsen drafted a translation of the Kalevala before Fliflet translated it, but it was never published following Nielsen’s wish. The other officially published translation was published 50 years after the first one, in 2017: Mikael Holmberg did the translation into Norwegian bokmål.
