The Persian translation of the Kalevala was published in Tehran in 1999. The translation was a result of the work by two persons Mercedeh Khadivar Mohsenin and Mahmoud Amir-Yar-Ahmadi. It took them three years to finish the translation. The couple devoted themselves to the translation of the Kalevala with great passion, translated the epic directly from Finnish, kept the poetic meter and searched for correct words with care. The translators gained a vast knowledge about the richness of both Finnish and Persian.
