One poem, 35 languages
To celebrate Finland’s 100th birthday, the Liaison Office of Finland in Minsk, Belarus, has produced a video in which the first poem of the Kalevala is read in 35 languages. The Kalevala Society supported this wonderful project financially.
The video was made by Anton Mekh and Anna Aheeva from Belarus, while the Russian painter Igor Baranov created the beautiful artwork. The music (“Läksin minä kesäyönä käymään”, trad.) is performed by Olga Peregud and Bon Voyage. Readers of the excerpts are students of the Minsk International School, students and staff of the Minsk State University of Linguistics, diplomats and businessmen.
